Every member of the French Saarloosian Association is committing to respect the following conditions:

General conditions
- be updated with the membership fee/subscription.
- rigorously respect the breeding FCI : in particular that the breeding animals are registered in a book of origin recognized by the FCI, and compliance with administrative regulations of the legislation on breeding and keeping domestic animals of the country of residence.
- no purchase of puppy for resale purpose.
- commit to report all matings and births to the Association.
- do not denigrate the Association or any other breeder of our breed but do report any problem encountered to the committee, so that it can be checked.
- accept to appear on our website and have the ability to have on the breeder's personal website the mention stating "Breeder signatory of the French Sarloosian Association Charter".

Conditions concerning the screening and the selection of breeding dogs
- breeding dogs are PRA free, cataract free and free from any other hereditary disabling ocular pathology(examination made less than 2 years ago at the time of mating).
- breeding dogs are screened for the Degenerative Mielopathia, the breeder commits to plan litters that won't give birth to sick dogs and to use no dogs affected by that disease.
Regarding the use of a foreign male if the screening of at least one of his two parents shows that the dog cannot be affected by the disease, a derogation can be given by the committee (subdued to the vote and agreed-upon by the majority). No derogation will be granted to dogs living in France.
- breeding dogs are screened for Pituitary Dwarfism, the breeder commits to plan litters that won't give birth to sick dogs.
- the screenings must be carried out by laboratories recognized by the FCI.
- breeding dogs are x-rayed for the hips dysplasia (A, B or C accepted, under the condition that C dogs are only mated with A dogs).
- any dog found to have elbow dysplasia will be excluded from breeding regardless of the severity of the condition.
- only mate 2 dogs if for future puppies the AVK over 5 generations is greater than 83%, the COI over 9 generations is less than 32% and the COI all generations less than 60% (the 3 conditions required simultaneously)
- breeding dogs are DNA identified. The breeder must suggest to the buyer to have the DNA identification and the filiation done by breeder at the buyer's cost.
- adopters must be offered to have the breeder perform MyDogDNA screening at the expense of the adopter.
- matings involving those dogs will be done with other tested dogs according to the Association's conditions.
- refrain from using breeding dogs that have a known defect.

Dogs standards of living
- they must be raised in regulatory(*) conditions as well as suitable to our breed, and the breeder must ensure the well being of all dogs staying at the kennel in particular by imposing a maximum number of 9 breeding dogs and 3 retired dogs at home (in case of boarding in addition to the breeding activity, the dogs in the boarding house are not counted) Breeding returns are not counted as long as they do not remain in breeding for more than 6 months..
- a female can only be used for breeding once she has reached the age of 24 months at the time of mating and if she is perfectly healthy, and, except in a case of an unpredictable incident or an exception (a small litter, for example), a minimum period of 12 months between two gestations which lasted at least 1 month must be respected.
- accept the fact that a bitch will not be used for breeding if she shows a weakness, an illness or the first signs of ageing. No mating for a birth older than 8 years old (anniversary date).
- accept that the females are limited to giving birth to a maximum of 4 litters, or 30 puppies.
- only breed studs from 24 months old and in perfect health, except in cases of epilepsy or hereditary eye disease in the immediate family (ascendant, descendant, siblings), wait 36 months .
- accept that the stallions are limited to carrying out a maximum of 5 successful coverings (possible derogation subject to vote by the committee).
- refrain from repeating the same mating when during a first litter there have already been more than 3 puppies. Possibly repeat the same mating if, 4 years after the first, it turns out that none of the offspring is used in reproduction.

Dogs selling conditions
- do not hand over puppies without a mandatory selling certificate.
- only hand over puppies if they are 8 weeks old, perfectly healthy (veterinary certificate of "good health" eventually stating any visible problem), and socialised in the best way. The breeder must make sure that the owners are aware of the necessity to continue the socialisation he has begun.
- inform the owners of the eliminatory defects visible when the puppy is 2 months old (set of teeth, testicles etc... see the standard).
- make sure that the puppy's owner is aware of what kind of commitment he is getting himself into and that he offers the suitable profile to be the owner. He needs to be able to go to the breeder to meet the "family".
- ensure breeding advices and a follow-up of the puppies produced.
- in case of a justified problem according to the articles L.213-1 to L.213.9 of the Rural Code, the breeder must offer and accept any amicable settlement with the buyer of a sold puppy.
- hand over to the buyers a membership form to the Association.
- do not sell puppies to pet stores and laboratories.

The commitment takes effect from the date of acceptance by the committee. The membership request can be denied to a breeder that has made some actions in the past in disagreement with the conditions described by the Charter.

In case of disrespect of the Charter or of a justified complaint coming from a buyer, the Association has the right to, once checked, dismiss the breeder from the list of members of the Association.

The Association is committed to publish a list of members and to give buyers only the contact details of breeders on that list. The Association declines any responsibility in case of problems that could occur with a member, its role being informative only.
